There is a common narrative that having a baby is supposed to be the most beautiful, joyful and magical time. While this can be true on so many different levels, it is also important to talk about the challenging emotions that come with the reality and responsibility of having a baby.

Words like guilt, sadness, anxiety, grief can feel so heavy, but they do not have to be scary and create a doom and gloom situation. Talking openly and honestly about emotions around parenthood helps everyone.

Available nationwide in the United States & Canada.

Perinatal Mental Health Coaching FAQs

What is perinatal mental health coaching?
Coaching support for parents through conception, pregnancy and postpartum emotional challenges.

What is included in a mental health session?
Your mental health coaching session includes 50 minutes with a certified perinatal mental health coach to discuss any emotional challenges on your mind. Together with your coach, you will develop an actionable care plan to will help you feel better, and your coach will send you this plan after your session. We leverage evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) coping skills that help reduce stress and provide relief throughout your everyday life.

How is coaching different than therapy?

Coaching and therapy are both forms of professional support aimed at helping individuals improve their lives, but they differ significantly in their focus, approach, and goals. Many of our coaching clients also work with a therapist or psychiatrist. We will work together with your care team to ensure you have the wrap around support you need, or help you determine what type of support would be best for you.

Coaching

  • Focuses on present and future challenges, and helps clients clarify their vision, set actionable goals, and develop strategies to move forward

  • Does not diagnosis any mental health condition

  • Does not require state licensure. However, it's important to work with a coach that is certified in perinatal mental health (like our coaches!)

Therapy

  • Focuses on emotional, psychological, or behavioral issues that may be causing distress or impairing functioning. Therapists work with clients to explore past experiences and relationships to alleviate symptoms of mental health conditions

  • Can diagnosis mental health disorders

  • Licensed professionals (such as psychologists, psychiatrists, clinical social workers) with specific training in diagnosing and treating mental health conditions

How much does a mental health session cost?

50 minute virtual session is $125. We offer bundle discounts when a package of 3 or 6 coaching sessions are purchased. We strongly believe in supporting all parents despite their ability to pay for services. If you need financial assistance, please contact us regarding sliding scale fees and/or support options.

How do I know if coaching is the right support for me?

We offer a FREE 20 minute consult to help answer any questions you may have, and help determine what type of support would be most appropriate for your situation.

Many parents struggle with identifying how they are feeling, and need a safe space to have an honest and open conversation about their emotions. Perinatal mental health coaching is ideal for parents that may feel anxious, sad, overwhelmed, guilty, and/or having difficulty with their relationships, work situation, asking for help, or rediscovering their new identity. Coaching is NOT intended to replace professional mental health support from a therapist or psychiatrist. It is NOT intended for crisis support, or for anyone that may be experiencing thoughts of suicide or harming others.
